Perth Design Week 2025 | Cultivated Perth Launch
As part of Perth Design Week 2025, Cultivated and Mark Tuckey have been collaborating with Foolscap Studio to present a zero-waste concept store located at Monash House in Boorloo on Whadjuk Noongar Country. This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainable design and the circular economy, aligning with Cultivated's mission, to honour authentic furniture and lighting designed with care and consideration.

The pop-up is both brands' first West Coast endeavour and showcases restored pieces from iconic designers such as Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, alongside Mark Tuckey’s bespoke creations crafted from recycled and sustainably managed timbers. Foolscap Studio's design employs materials chosen for their ability to be repurposed at their highest value, including recycled bricks for display platforms, SaveBOARD made from post-consumer tetrapak for plinths, and remnant Kvadrat fabric rolls that will later serve as upholstery.

Foolscap Studio presented a zero-waste concept store for design professionals committed to sustainability. As the conversation around sustainable design accelerates, the pop-up emerges as a compelling case stuy in circular design thinking and in retail spaces. Visitors are invited to explore the collection, engage with the narratives behind each piece, and gain a deeper understanding of the environmental and creative value embedded in sustainable design. This project is made possible through the shared vision and dedication of Cultivated, Mark Tuckey, Foolscap Studio, and a network of like-minded partners committed to advancing sustainable design practices.

An emphasis on local sourcing and design also ran through the space, with Perth based trades and designers, such as Jack Flanagan, engaged to bring Foolscap Studio's design to life. The pop up also included furniture restored locally in Perth, natural lime paint from Bauwerk, with the lime being sourced from the West Australian landscape, and art supplied by ArtBank, which supports local emerging and established artists though their art rental program.

As Cultivated continues to expand, the principals of the circular economy still influence our entire operation. This collaboration is no execption and exemplifies the principles of circular design, emphasizing the importance of material lifecycles without compromising style. It offers trade professionals insights into specifying reused materials at scale, navigating circular supply chains, and integrating restored and remade furniture into various projects.
