Cultivated x Nexus Designs NEWNEW Pavillion shortlisted for the 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards

NEWNEW is a collaboration between Nexus Designs and Cultivated that challenges conventional ideas of value, waste and permanence. Developed as an experimental installation, the project demonstrates how existing materials and overlooked resources can be redirected into thoughtful, high-quality design outcomes.Drawing on reclaimed components, local manufacturing and collaborative making, NEWNEW explores the potential of design to extend material lifecycles while creating meaningful new experiences. Rather than beginning with virgin resources, the project embraces what already exists, transforming discarded elements into a bespoke architectural intervention. The result is an installation that sits between research, making and advocacy—proposing a future where design is measured not only by what is created, but by what can be retained, reimagined and given a second life.
