Bower Mobile Screen

By Adam Goodrum

Designed: 2017

History

The Bower Screen was designed in 2017 by award-winning Australian designer Adam Goodrum for NAU. Inspired by the bowerbird’s nest, the screen takes its name and architectural form from this idea of gentle enclosure. With curved timber uprights and soft, padded panels, the Bower Screen provides visual privacy and acoustic benefits while acting as a sculptural element in the room.

This screen was sourced from a commercial office in Sydney. Still in strong structural condition, it presented an ideal opportunity for collaborative adaptation and reuse.

Cultivated

Working closely with the designer, we’ve expanded the Bower Screen’s potential through a choice of panel finishes: either acoustic fabric panels or sustainably sourced cork. Each piece is reassembled and the solid ash timber frame is refinished in a lacquer specified by the client — allowing for seamless integration into new environments. This tailored approach ensures the Bower Screen retains its original spirit while offering enhanced flexibility and circular value.
