About A Lounge 92

By Hee Welling

Designed: 2012

History

Designed by Danish designer Hee Welling for HAY in 2012, the About A Lounge 92 is part of the broader “About A” collection, celebrated for its simplicity, comfort and versatility. With a low, generous seat and subtly curved shell, the chair is designed to feel welcoming in both commercial and residential settings. Its minimal aesthetic and strong attention to proportion have made it a staple in contemporary interiors around the world.

This chair was sourced from a corporate client in Sydney. After years of use, the upholstery showed signs of wear, but the structure and solid timber base remained intact and ideal for renewal.

Cultivated

We begin the restoration by fully stripping and reupholstering the shell in fabric or leather specified by the client. The solid timber legs are sanded and refinished, available in either a natural or stained finish to suit the intended setting. Our restoration process retains the clean, minimal lines of the original design while giving the chair a fresh, updated feel. The result is a thoughtfully restored piece that blends comfort, quality and sustainability.
