Series 7 Chair (Lacquered)
By Arne Jacobsen
Designed: 1955
History
Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955, the Series 7 Chair remains a landmark in modern furniture design. With its moulded plywood shell and elegant form, the chair has been embraced globally for both its visual lightness and ergonomic comfort. The upholstered version offers an added layer of refinement and softness, often specified for public venues, offices and cultural spaces.
This set of chairs was sourced from a large events facility, where they had served for many years across a range of high-use functions. Despite surface wear, the frames remained structurally sound, making them excellent candidates for restoration.
Cultivated
To restore these chairs, we partner with the only authorised Fritz Hansen upholsterer in Australia. Each chair is carefully stripped and reupholstered in a fabric or leather selected by the client, using techniques and detailing that meet the manufacturer’s original standards. Bases are cleaned and polished, and glides replaced if required. The result is a refined, comfortable chair restored to a commercial-grade finish while retaining its design heritage.
