History
Designed in 1960 by Danish master Hans J Wegner, the Ox Chair marked a bold departure from his earlier timber-based designs. With its sculptural form and commanding presence, it represents a fearless exploration of shape and comfort. The Ox Chair is one of Wegner’s most distinctive works and remains a true icon of modern design.
This particular chair was sourced from a commercial office in Brisbane. Though well used, the frame and structure remained intact, making it an ideal candidate for restoration. The piece has been given a new life through careful craftsmanship and high attention to detail.
Cultivated
Craftspeople begin the process of restoring the Ox Chair by first separating it's base from the main structure. The base was stripped, to remove any tarnishing, before it was re-plated, polished and brushed back to it's original condition. The main structure of the lounge was disassembled into it's individual components before being stripped and reupholstered. The Ox is available in leather or fabric.
